Capabilities

Tailings Management

Our focus is working through processes to help tailings management teams review, understand, and assess the levels of risk, so that they can take action and address their weak spots.

Advancing Sustainability

We work directly with your teams, engaging them to gain an understanding of the complexity of the system that they are managing, in order to co-develop improved management strategies.

Mining Circularity

Advancing circularity in mining to make all mining developments not just responsible, but going above and beyond to create value for all stakeholders involved in, and impacted by industry.

Industry Contributions

I have spent over 6 years on the executive working for the Environmental and Social Responsibility Society of our national mining association, Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy, and Petroleum (CIM). In this role, I was in charge of the coordination and design of technical content we offer through webinars, workshops, dialogue sessions, and the annual convention. This involves a lot of planning with our team, other societies, and external collaborators to bring this together. Furthermore, I am a designer, coordinator and co-facilitator of the annual Tailings Management Workshops for the CIM Conference.

I was on the Board of Directors for Women in Mining Women in Nuclear Saskatchewan, Inc. for 2 years, supporting the coordination of the annual conference and webinars in earlier years as well. With this group of women leaders, we engaged women in industry, providing both a support network and learning opportunities to women advance in their roles.

To help engage our next professional generation, I’ve worked with various engineering professors and industry network organizers to speak at the University of Saskatchewan annually, playing the role of sessional lecturer, workshop facilitator, project team mentor, and in project management courses, as well as on various industry expert panels.

At a junior level, and when I have the chance, I can also be found helping out with bringing greater education about mining into our elementary school programs. My most recent contributions involved working with the Girls in the Classroom initiative, which is designed to both inform about mining, but also highlight women working in industry and STEM roles.

I'm contributing to The Tailings Center Tailings Management graduate program curriculum (a collaboration between Colorado School of Mines (Mines), Colorado State University (CSU), and the University of Arizona (Arizona)). Tailings Management training program was launched in March of 2021 including six short courses of two weeks duration that provide registrants with an understanding of the Fundamentals of Tailings Management.

I contributed to the development of the AusIMM Tailings Management Certificate program. Featuring internationally-renowned tailings experts and case studies, the course will cover geotechnical, geochemical, governance, closure and socio-economic considerations of tailings management.

Programs & Organizational Change

Global Reporting Initiative

As a component of the Environmental Leadership Program with Cameco Corporation, I was involved in the engagement of all operating sites with regard to compiling relevant environmental performance data that would support tracking performance against achieving corporate goals established for reaching Environmental Leadership in the industry.

Sustainability Integration

Over several years working with Cameco Corporation, I was involved in the development and implementation of the Environmental Leadership Program. The program extended to all of Cameco's operating sites, it's corporate offices, and also future projects in the Major Projects portfolio. Integration of long-term goals and the concepts of operational management.

Project Delivery Program

As a component of the Environmental Leadership Program with Cameco Corporation, I was involved in the assessment and improvements to the Major Projects Project Delivery Program. Performed a gap analysis of a major project delivery and design program, to identify opportunities to reduce project risks associated with gaining regulatory and stakeholder approval.

Trusted partners:

Over a period of three years, we have developed an incredibly successful collaboration. We had a project to upgrade our risk assessment tools for all of our critical infrastructure for the company.
